TDK Cape texture question

So I'm working on a mod for the Dark Knight Returns skin to make the black parts of his suit bluer and belt more gold, but the cape doesn't change and I would like to know how if anyone could lend aid.

i have tried before, can't seem to change the colour of the cape, but you can change the pattern, that's about it, it seems his cape is shared along most if not all of his suits, as i tried to change the year one cape, and it didn't work. so unfortunately there isn't anything that can be done

I just realized someone has done it before! I don't exactly know who but a modder changed the default skin to straight black like from asylum so it may be possible.

Warlord I believe has done that, and AlexVance made a variation that worked better.
So one of those two may have that answers you need to solve this.

Went digin' around in the game and found that only some models have cape textures. I know this may not be news to you but it baffled me on how the creators could do it.
